The Moment

Once I was asked: “If you can witness a historical moment, which would you choose?”

I answered without much hesitation: “The end time of the biggest war.”

When the news of the armistice came from the radio

Lovers kissed each other without a care

Children laughed and ran to the arms of the parents

Mother hugged her grown son tightly

Wounded veteran in wheelchair burst into tears

I want to hear the singing of lasting peace

I want to smell flowers blooming on the battlefield

I want to see people no longer nervous about the rising sun

I wish to witness the rarest moment in human history:

Freedom and harmony were unprecedently valued

Ruthlessness came to an end

Humanity shone again
