A Human Being’s Introspection

I once put myself very low,

bowing down to the arrogance of the group.

I once take myself too high,

prioritising my kind over the rest of the world.

I lie while seeking truth;

I pray while abandoning gods;

I laugh while hiding tears;

I rescue while burying fellows;

I hate mediocrity

while discriminating the few;

I preserve goodness

while accompanying the evil.

But I am, you are, we are –

a leaf breathing on a branch,

a deer jumping in the forest,

a river running towards the sea,

a star surfing across the sky.

I am a human being

walking on the earth,

non-innocent, complicated, and precious..

Yet no more precious than any other life form.
